Happy New Year Moms! Can you believe it’s 2012? last year just flew by and some of it seems like a blur. We all had our ups and downs last year but we made it through. What didn’t kill us made us stronger Right? Right! We all want better than we had, which is why we continue to make ‘New Years Resolutions.’
Every NEW year we set resolutions hoping that we will ‘resolve’ whatever it was in the prior year we didn’t handle; we want to stop smoking, exercise more, be nicer and accomplish goals.
We all want a better year than the last. Resolutions are made because it is our plan to follow through, to actually accomplish them THIS time.
We want something different to occur in our lives but we keep doing the SAME things, expecting different results; that’s called insanity.
Most of the time we make resolutions out of emotions; we think back on what we didn’t accomplish and (more…)
“It wasn’t just for him, but it was for me, too!”
Have you ever been doing something while thinking that it was to help another person, only to realize it was for you, too? This has been the story of my life recently.
I have been living in New York for the past month and a half, getting my youngest son started on his career and getting my oldest son settled into his new apartment with his two roommates. He’s starting college at NYCDA (New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts), and it’s his first time out on his own in NY — what a place to learn about life.
I couldn’t just throw him out to the wolves — I refused to! Thankfully, my youngest son and I were blessed to stay at their apartment and slept on one of his roommates’ sleeper couches in the living room. It was interesting to say the least, but it made me an even better woman, a stronger more faith based woman. It was a journey I’ll appreciate for a lifetime.
I had my ideas of what was going to happen to us while we were visiting New York, but like always, there was another plan of action already in effect, and I didn’t even know it. (more…)
The Anticipation of Change is worse than change itself!
Today, I am on a plane headed to New York with my two baby boys. Ok, young men. 🙂 It’s a journey we have been dreaming about, as well as confessing and praying about for years, and it’s finally here.
This is a big change for us. It has been The Three Amigos for over 16 years, and now that changes. This is going to be different and exciting all at the same time.
My oldest is moving over 3000 miles from home to New York City Dance Academy, and my youngest is starting a new modeling career, and I have things in the works, too. But even with the excitement, it’s still CHANGE, and we know change can be a little scary. (more…)
How I’m handling my baby leaving the nest…
I have exactly a month from today before I take my oldest baby, ok my 18 year old *insert mommy face*, to New York for his first year of college. Yes, 3000 miles from home! He was accepted to the New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts (NYCDA), a college known for its hard auditions.
Thousands audition from across the world, and only 180 are accepted per semester. It’s a huge deal, and I am so proud of him. He has wanted to sing and act since he was 4 years old and has wanted to attend NYCDA since his sophomore year in high school. He now gets to live out his dreams.
Needless to say, this will be a transition for the both of us, actually for the three of us; it has always been him, his brother and me. We have been the “three amigos” (as they’ve named us) for 13 years. (more…)
Where do you live? And are you from there?
I live in beautiful Arizona, North Glendale to be exact. Whenever anyone asks me about Arizona I tell them that it’s one of God’s best kept secrets. Yes, it gets hot here, and today it’ll be 115F and for most of the summer BUT that’s nothing since I get to enjoy the beautiful sky every night. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else!
Like most of us I am not a native of where I currently live; I am originally from Indiana moved to Atlanta in 1993 and then moved to Arizona in 2004. I lived in Atlanta for a lot of years but had to move away due to leaving an abusive relationship and life. I wanted better for my boys and me so I got out of Atlanta and moved here to Arizona. It’s one of the best moves I’ve ever made especially since I met my awesome husband here! (more…)
