CALIFORNIA, USA: I’m Nobody!

CALIFORNIA, USA: I’m Nobody!

Several years ago, when I was in college, my whole vision of my future was about making a career.

I wanted to be independent and free. I wanted to be free from my, at some point, pathological father and cold as a stone mother.

I wanted to achieve something on my own and be proud about it.

I went to London for a summer break and worked as a waitress 15 hours a day, barely knowing English. I went to Germany and worked installing hardwood floor. (I know!!!)

Very close to the last year at University, I already knew I was not going to use my degree, as it is useless. Mass Media Education. Go figure!

Anyway, I became involved in two radio stations. (more…)

Friday Question: What were your biggest aversions and/or cravings during pregnancy?

This week’s Friday Question comes from World Moms Blog writer Tara B.  She asked our writers,

“What were your biggest aversions and/or cravings during pregnancy?”

Check out what some of our World Moms had to say…

MamaRobinJ of British Columbia, Canada writes:
“I ate a lot of pickles. And ice cream. But not together, because I’m not THAT cliché 🙂  But seriously, we bought big pickle jars every week!

Major aversion for me was salad – anything with greens turned me off completely.

Weird craving was for a McChicken. I don’t eat at McDonald’s and hadn’t for years and years. But I wanted one so badly. I didn’t give in, but that combo of craving and aversion made no sense. Isn’t your body supposed to want good things? Someone suggested it might be salt that made me crave that, but I think the pickles were taking care of that 🙂  In any case, my son (3) has never had McDonald’s and he will actually eat salad, so go figure.” (more…)

Editor’s Note:  The defamatory language in this post was incorrectly unedited, which does not comply with our writer’s guidelines.  The inclusion of such language has detracted from the blog’s goal of supporting mothers that we are trying so hard to build in every post.

I believe that Polish Mom Photographer has good intentions, and the error is in the editor’s failure to initially comply with the blog’s already in place guidelines. World Moms Blog will continue to be a place where intelligent conversations on controversial topics can be had, but we will reintroduce these topics within the terms of our writer’s guidelines, issued at the time the blog was started. In this case, we have admittedly steered off course, and we apologize. Therefore, this article has been retroactively edited down to the recipe and reposted. (more…)

Travel Itinerary for the Week of June 27th!

On Monday we are in beautiful Vancouver, Canada, to hear from Carol at If By Yes. Carol would probably have a hard time getting further than she is from her hometown while still being on Canadian soil, and she talks about the challenges that come with living far away from loved ones.

On Tuesday,we head to head to Arkansas, where Margie Bryant will have us reaching for the Kleenex as she writes about her beautiful son Elijah, who graced this planet for all too short a time.

On Wednesday, we are off to New Jersey to hear from Kally Mocho, mom of two lovely children. Kally and her husband believe in making the world a better place, as can be seen in Kally’s part-time social work and the fact that they met while helping underprivileged communities.

And on Thursday, we’re out west in California, where Polish Mom Photographer tells us an interesting story of a delicious Polish delicacy. We even get a recipe into the bargain!

On Friday Eva Fannon leads us in the Friday Question. Be sure to check it out and chime in with your answers!

In writer interviews this week, we will get to know Eva Fannon from Washingon on Tuesday. On Thursday we will be in Massachusetts getting to know Kyla P’an.
